Greatness Ahead, Thread Humbly

I am not sure to think that the one who is proud knows that he is proud. Well, I never thought so until. . .

I received a BC (Broadcast Message) on BBM from a close friend, Cynthia. I read it but did not totally agree with one or two sentences. So I requested that she throws more light on it.

While Cynthia was trying to explain, you know when you can tell that someone is typing a message. . . I had already sent a message. I voiced out my opinion. And I didn't even bother to hear her out.

Just as she had finished typing her message and sent it to me, she read my message. I need no angel to minister to me on how disappointed my friend had felt. She said if I didn't understand it, then I should have asked the Holy Spirit instead of trying to argue with her. She was right.

Why did I ask her to explain in the first place when I had already made up my mind about what I thought her BC should mean? No, she didn't ask me that. I actually realized about two hours later. It didn't matter if I had the right answers or not. I was wrong not to have waited for her opinion. I was wrong to think that I knew better. And that's pride.

I was proud, and I didn't know!

According to Net English Dictionary, pride is a high or inordinate opinion of one's dignity, importance, merit, skills or superiority cherished in the mind or as displayed in conduct, bearing, et.c

Pride is one of the most common human errors and shortcomings. I hear the alert *danger!* *danger!* *check against pride!*. It is costly. For those who are driven by visions and purpose, for those who have got greatness coming, for those who are to be used as God's masterpieces, pride is a deadly thing. The Bible says pride goes before a fall.

Pride puffs us up and make us think we are bigger, better and more important than we really are. We use pride to push ourselves forward than others. Let not pride be found in our hearts.

How do we overcome pride?

We find the answer from what Jesus said to James and John when they sought to be the most privileged to get the higher positions in God's kingdom.
"Are you able" asked the Lord. "to drink of the cup that I drink?" The two of them so eagerly, said "yes" But Jesus said, "whoever wishes to be great among you must be your servant, and whoever wishes to be first among you must be slave to all." Mark 10:43.

You need to learn to admit mistakes, learn from others, serve and help others, praise others and avoid taking credits.

You overcome pride by being the servant of others, giving your life away. You overcome pride by living the Christ-like life he has shown. Christ made himself nothing.

"Pride leads to disgrace, but with humility comes wisdom." Prov. 11:2

This is a good time to learn humility.
